myPlymouth Unavailable June 20-22

myPlymouth will be unavailable the weekend of June 20th through the 22nd. The MIS team of ITS is completing some upgrades to information systems this weekend. The following services will be unavailable during this time:

- myPlymouth
- Blackboard
- Banner INB
- Banner Self-Service

The window for the outage is 5:00 pm on Friday afternoon, June 20th. By 8:00 am on Monday, June 23rd, they anticipate that all services will be restored.

Your email access will not be affected by this upgrade, but you will not be able to access your email through myPlymouth. You can instead use this link:

This was not something ITS wanted to do right now. They had actually hoped to wait until August, but unfortunately, the need is being driven by a change in the government’s rules surrounding financial aid which has resulted in the necessity for a patch to our Banner system. Unfortunately, this patch only works on databases running on a version higher than where we are now. Hence the need to upgrade.

The MIS team is hard at work doing as much as they can ahead of time, but this is a huge undertaking as we have several databases running the older version that will eventually all require this upgrade. Since downtime of this nature is so scarce, they opted to upgrade all of the databases at once so that there would not have to interrupt service again for this issue. Our hope is that they won’t need the entire weekend, but as you can imagine, they have to plan for a worst case scenario.

We understand that this is inconvenient for many faculty staff and students, and if you have concerns about what you can and cannot access this weekend, please do not hesitate to contact the help desk at 535-2929 to discuss alternatives.
